Gypsy moth
Rufus Isaacs, MSU Entomology
Gypsy moth larvae are brown-black with white and yellow hairs and can be up to 50 mm long. They are typically present during bloom, feeding on foliage and flower clusters.
John H. Ghent, USDA Forest Serv.

The youngest larvae (3 mm long) can “balloon” through the air on silken threads and can be carried from woods into nearby blueberry fields.

Scouting during and after bloom can detect small larvae on bushes when they are easiest to control.
